Rundown of new functions in the Cockpit

(peter.schmitt) #1

Over the last weeks we have prepared many new features in the cockpit for you. Let me give you a quick introduction to them.

Fail Container Now Available via GUI

What

Fail Containers are a type of containers next to Property or Group Containers. Their job is to provide an error message in case a certain condition is met and to set the text generation result to failed. This is very useful to make sure that no false texts are published.

This type of containers is now also selectable in the Cockpit dialog for creating containers.

How

Create a sentence that contains the error message. In Magic mode, select that sentence with the mouse and create a container. Select Fail Container as the container’s type.

Now just select a property that determines whether the text is erroneous and you are done.

Random Appearance of a Container Now Easier with GUI

What

Sometimes you may want a container to appear in a text with a certain probability. This is now possible via a parameter in the Container Creation dialog.

How

Create a container as usual. In the Container Creation dialog there is a new parameter that you can set: Randomness. It lets the container appear with the selected probability. The standard is 50 percent, in which case half of the texts will have the container in them and half won’t.

A Container’s Comments Are Now Shown on Mouseover

What

The containers in a sentence can have a comment added to them. This comment can now be displayed next to the container on mouseover without clicking on it.

How

Hover your mouse pointer over the container with the comment. The comment will be displayed next to your mouse pointer.

Story Type Triggers Are Shown More Prominently

What

Every Story Type has a Trigger that determines if the Story Type can be used for creating a text. This trigger is now displayed more prominently in the editor.

How

You don’t need to do anything; this feature is now standard.

Cut_to / Cut_from Are Now Enabled in the GUI

What

The text engine supports cutting a text to a predetermined length. Sentences and parts of sentence variants can be marked as available for cutting. These marks are now available in the graphical user interface.

How

Find the sentence variant you want to cut. Place the tag [cut_from] before the part you want to mark for cutting and [cut_to] after it. Now the machine can remove the parts between these two tags.

DBStart / DBEnd Are Now Enabled in the GUI

What

DBStart and DBEnd are tags you can use in roperty outputs and lookup values. These tags mark a word for the lexicon lookup. These Tags are now available in the GUI.

How

Find the property output or lookup value you need to change the lexicon lookup. Place the tags [DBStart] before the word(part) you want to look up in the lexicon and [DBEnd] after it.
