Using roles to provide grammatical information across branches

Everytime when the values of a data field can differ in gender and number, some components in the sentence might have to agree. For that purpose we provide roles. Verbs can inherit the grammatical information and agree in gender and number with the noun, in some cases like in the Romance languages this can be relevant for adjectives too.

How to set it up:

The roles can be defined in the settings of each container.

The assisted annotation detects the subject and applies the roles accordingly. In the following example you can see that “XX” is marked as the subject and the verb “present” agrees with “XX”.

The roles work across the branches. You can use them for other branches within the statement. Which means the word with the grammatical information does not have to appear explicitly in the branch.
